Stunning Views and Custom One Homes Brought Them to Highland Hills in Cottage Grove

without comments

Meeting Custom One for the First Time.

When Heather and Jason walked into a Custom One model home in Stonemill Farms in Woodbury, they insisted they were “just looking” and had no intention of building. Their older St. Paul home had been on the market for some time with no buyer prospects in sight, so buying a new home appeared to be a long way off.

After talking with Custom One’s New Home Specialist, Jeremiah Rygh that day, suddenly their dreams seemed within reach. “We loved the model immediately,” says Heather, “and Jeremiah completely sold us on the idea of working with a premium home builder.” So the couple proceeded cautiously.

Shopping for Land.

One of the concerns Heather and Jason had about building was finding the perfect home site. Under no obligation, Jeremiah took them around to several neighborhoods and showed them different land options. “The Lots they had available were amazing,” says Jason. “But we knew immediately this home site was right for us. Jeremiah made it possible for us to see what we wanted before we even knew about it.” The land they chose gives them an amazing panoramic view of a private, protected landscape.

Making the Final Decision.

finding a homesite

Jason and Heather checked out other models and other builders and they began to move forward, but kept coming back to Custom One Homes and the Providence model. “We went back so many times,” says Heather. “And we went to so many models, but they just weren’t the right fit for us.”

In the end, Jeremiah became the final convincing factor. “We wanted a high quality home at an affordable price,” says Heather. “Jeremiah helped us justify our decision and assured us that we were making the best move possible. But the product really sells itself.”

The Custom One Team.

Heather and Jason were impressed with the entire Custom One team. Mike Rygh was great to work with and helped them put in a bonus room over the garage that was not the original plan. He even tracked down and installed a small window that Heather wanted to bring in some natural light.

Cheryl Mann, Custom One’s customer rep worked closely with the couple on schedules and product selections throughout the building process. “Cheryl and I talked on a daily basis,” says Heather. “She was on my speed-dial for seven months and beside us every step of the way.”

Interior Design Assistance

Heather also loved working with Amy Leferink, Custom One’s on-staff interior designer. “Amy was fantastic to work with,” adds Heather. “She has great ideas and understood the look I was going for. It’s so nice to have someone who understands the big picture. She was always there to guide us and lead us to make good choices. Amy is absolutely essential in the Custom One experience.” Jason agrees, “Working with Custom One Homes is like a well-orchestrated event.”

New Home Guarantee Program.

Custom One Homes’ Guarantee Program, which assured the sale of their existing home, allowed Jason and Heather to move ahead with their plans to build, making it stress free. “If we didn’t have the guarantee, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” says Jason. “We were very hesitant until Mike Rygh assured us that he would buy our St. Paul home.” To have someone have your back during a difficult time means so much,” adds Heather. “We didn’t have the ‘what if’ in the back of our minds.” Ultimately, their home sold before the new home was completed, which was the perfect scenario of all.

Their Favorite Things.

Building a dream

It’s difficult for Heather and Jason to pinpoint what they like best about their new home. When asked, they each name several favorites. “We love the lot, the play room, the kitchen and family room, the large closets, pantry, second floor laundry, the drop area off of the garage and of course our bonus room, which will be a work-out room or an office some day,” says Heather. And the list went on and on. “The flow of this house is so perfect,” adds Jason. “It’s perfect for everyday life. Entertaining is so much easier. Everything here has a purpose. 92% of the space is actually used because Custom One knows how people live every day.”

We didn’t even have to ask if Heather and Jason would recommend Custom One Homes to their friends. “We could talk forever about how great this experience was,” concludes Heather. “Even my mother recommends them to family and friends — and she built her home with another builder before we built ours.”

Money Magazine Ranks Woodbury, MN in the Top 15 of America’s Best Small Cities

without comments

Bielenberg Sports Center

When Money magazine recently announced their list of 100 best small cities in America based on financial stability, housing, education and quality of life, we weren’t surprised that Woodbury landed 13th. After all, those are some the very same reasons Custom One Homes chooses to build in this fine city.

According to the city’s website (http://www.ci.woodbury.mn.us/) Woodbury continues to be one of the Minnesota’s fastest-growing cities for a whole lot of good reasons:

  • 120 miles of multi-use trails surrounded by 3,000 acres of dedicated parkland
  • Close proximity to the St. Croix River Valley
  • Thriving business community
  • Exceptional public and private schools
  • Major retail shopping areas
  • Outstanding medical, including a full-service acute care hospital
  • Indoor and outdoor parks and recreation centers
  • Premier golf courses

Golf Courses

At Custom One Homes, we’d like to add a couple more highlights to the list — two marvelous neighborhood communities in which we love to build — Dancing Waters and Stonemill Farms>>

Dancing Waters

Dancing Waters features open trails, wetlands and a private central park with a swimming pool, sundeck, gazebo, perennial garden and more. It’s a great family neighborhood located off of Valley Creek Road in the City of Woodbury.

Stonemill Farms offers a convenient rural escape on the east side of Woodbury. The onsite Community Center is a great spot for energetic workouts, laps in the pool and family celebrations and it’s all connected to trails, parks and open space for residents of all ages.

Custom One Homes Meets A Cottage Grove Couple’s Needs Now and For the Future

without comments

At Home in Everwood

Leigh had read about Custom One Homes’ Women-Centric designs in the Star Tribune and was intrigued. She and her husband, Paul, had been contemplating a move, so they toured a model in Woodbury during the Parade of Homes. Although they found the home very impressive, it was a two-story and they needed a rambler.

Leigh has a sister with special needs who will move in with the couple some day and the two wanted to build a home they would love that would be handicap accessible for Paula. Rob Fritz, Custom One Homes’ New Home Specialist suggested Leigh and Paul take a look at one of their rambler models in Everwood in Cottage Grove>> and they not only loved the model, they found a wooded homesite there that was perfect. So they began to make plans.

The Foyer

“Rob immediately started asking questions so he could understand how we envisioned our future and how we wanted our life to be,” says Leigh. “We began with Custom One’s Summit design>> and began modifying the plans to better suit our needs.”

Paul and Leigh felt a little intimidated at the thought of building their first home, but their anxieties didn’t last long. “Custom One Homes’ process is so good and so well-organized that we never felt overwhelmed,” says Leigh. “The decisions we had to make didn’t happen all at once, and it all came together quite nicely.”

“Working with Custom One Homes president, Mike Rygh, was a truly great experience,” says Paul. “He stays very involved, is detail oriented and always has the big picture in mind.”

Paul and Leigh appreciated Mike’s practical side and he seemed to always have their best interests in mind. “Whenever Mike encountered a problem, he immediately set out to resolve it,” says Paul. “He also called it to our attention rather than have us discover it ourselves. We really admired him for that.”

Building a handicap-accessible home means anticipating every possible obstacle. “Mike noticed a threshold in the shower that would have been a barrier,” says Paul. “He took it out.” He also made suggestions that the couple hadn’t considered. “We have a finished lower level,” says Leigh. “Mike recommended we add a large closet on the lower level that matched the same square footage on the main floor. He said an elevator could be easily added to that space in the future if my sister is confined to a wheelchair.” Whenever they had a plan review he would bring things up and make suggestions.

The Kitchen

Paul and Leigh’s confidence in Custom One Homes was confirmed by the subcontractors who worked on their home. “Everyone we met talked about how much they enjoyed working for Mike,” says Paul. “That certainly says a lot about his integrity.”

Even the closing of their new home worked in Paul and Leigh’s favor. “We were given a move-in date and they stepped it up so that we could get in even earlier,” says Paul. “They even arranged to have the closing at their office for our convenience. We couldn’t be happier.”

The Custom One Homes’ Model of Their Dreams in Woodbury

without comments

Fred and Heidi

Fred and Heidi weren’t exactly in the market for a new home when they fell in love during the Parade of Homes Spring Preview in 2009 — at least not a home of this size and floor plan.  Instead they were contemplating downsizing, without a deadline in mind. One of their two sons is already in college and the second is graduating high school this spring. There was no real hurry.

“We came out to the Parade on a whim,” Heidi says with a laugh. “When we came through Custom One Homes Raleigh model>>, we knew we were doomed from the start.” Fred is quick to agree. “Heidi fell head over heels —but  I was afraid we’d be in over our heads.”

Grand Entrance

“When we walked around this house, we suddenly realized we weren’t ready for less square footage,” says Heidi. “The layout was perfect for us! Not too small when the boys are home — and not too large when we’re alone. I was hooked.”

Being a practical man, Fred decided they needed to see more homes to compare. “The problem was,” says Fred, “nothing else we saw measured up to a Custom One Home.”

They were both so impressed by the quality construction and attention to detail. “It’s the little things in this house that, once you discover them, you see every other house as imperfect,” says Fred.

Because their current home wasn’t even on the market, Fred and Heidi met with Custom One Homes Specialist, Jeremiah Rygh about their New Home Guarantee>> — a plan where the builder buys your home if it isn’t sold by the time the new home closes. “The New Home Guarantee really made the process worry-free,” says Heidi. “Just knowing our move-in date made everything less stressful.”

Foyer and Stairway

Heidi and Fred also have nothing but good things to say about living in the community of Stonemill Farms. “I wish we had come here earlier, when the boys were younger,” says Heidi. “We love the walking paths, the gym and other amenities I know we’ll use this summer. There’s such a great sense of community here.”

Gourmet Kitchen

Heidi beams as she talks about their new Custom One Home by Mike Rygh. “I can’t imagine not living in a Mike Rygh home now,” says Heidi. “Everything is taken care of. It would be really hard to go back to a lesser built home.”  Fred agrees that their new home is a dream come true. “Heidi says, ‘I keep thinking someone is going to wake us up and ask for their home back,’” laughs Fred. “But it’s our home, and we’re here to stay.”

Considering Custom One Homes’ New Home Guarantee, Federal Home Buyer Tax Credits and Affordable Interest Rates,

What Are You Waiting For?

If you’ve been thinking about building a new home, there’s really never been a better a time to make your move. Let’s count the reasons …

  1. New Home Guarantee: Even if you still have a home to sell, Custom One Homes lets you start building now*. You continue to pursue the sale of your current home while your new home is under construction. If your home is sold before your new home is completed — and four out of four of our recent clients’ homes were — life couldn’t get any better! If not, Custom One Homes manages the sale your current home, guaranteed. That’s peace of mind. *Subject to terms and conditions.
  2. Move-Up Home Buyers Tax Credit: No doubt you’ve heard about the first-time homebuyers tax credit. Well that law has been extended and expanded to homeowners who have lived in the same principal residence for five consecutive years during the eight-year period that ends when the new home is purchased. If those qualifications are met, move-up homebuyers will receive a $6,500 tax credit*. Link to this Wall Street Journal article for more information>> The Federal government plans to end its purchase program in March of 2010.*Ask your tax advisor for details.
  3. Low Interest Rates: Interest rates are low right now, but that won’t last forever. While average rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages are around 5 percent, that will most certainly change next year when the Federal Reserve stops buying mortgage-backed securities.

There you have it! Three outstanding reasons to talk with a Custom One Homes sales representative right now. Check out our neighborhoods here>>
